Commissioning and Networks
The best ways to find out about commissioning from local public bodies are:

- to join one of the voluntary sector representative networks in the District. These include:
Children & Young People VCS Network
A network of voluntary and community sector groups and organisations that work with or deliver services to children, young people & families.It has over 300 members and aims to support, develop and promote the sector's contribution to the 'Every Child Matters' and 'Youth Matters' initiatives, by ensuring we have voluntary representation on the various strategic groups.
The network provides:
- Up to date information on the re-shaping of children & young people's services within Bradford district
- Support on a wide range of issues resulting from the changes to service delivery - including training for staff
- A voice for the voluntary and community sector at all levels of Bradford's children's trust body - The Children & Young People's Strategic Partnership
- A Youth sector training fund to support training needs

You are a voluntary or community sector group or organisation in Bradford district
You work with children, young people or families

HealthNet
HealthNet is a network of voluntary & community sector groups and organisations with an interest in health. The network promotes and represents the VCS in Bradford and Airedale. A steering group meets regularly to direct the work of HealthNet. This includes:
- A membership of over 200 voluntary and community sector organisations from across the District
- Three additional voluntary sector representatives places on key health partnership boards. Reps will represent the views of all health groups in the district at a strategic level
- Delivering events that keep the sector informed about developments that will impact on their organisation
- Developing a programme of training & support for reps to enable them to effectively represent the views of health groups
- Developing a paper-based and online directory of voluntary and community sector health organisations that will be utilised as a tool for GP, voluntary and statutory sector referrals.

Bradford and District Older People's Alliance (BOPA)
BOPA is a network of older peoples voluntary & community sector groups & organisations. We work alongside the Older Peoples Partnership Board ensuring older people in the district are able to contribute to the decisions directly affecting their lives.The Older Peoples Partnership Board have five groups each focusing on matters which are relevant to older people in Bradford today and developing strategies to help the older people of the future.
These groups include:
- Healthier Communities & Older People
- Involving Older People
- Economy, Employment & Learning
- Housing & Community Support Action Group
- Transport Action Group
BOPA has representatives on each of these groups. The BOPA representatives attend the groups and feedback progress reports to the BOPA committee and their own groups. This information is then relayed to the wider membership via the monthly newsletter.
BOPA often consults with its membership in order to ensure all relevant issues are being heard.
