Support
Leeds City Council is working with the Leeds Community Foundation to make available further information about other sources of small grants.
A grant from Leeds City Council's infra-structure Fund has enabled the Foundation to commission this special website with up-to-date information about small grants available for groups in Leeds. It also provides details of other funding sources including the National Lottery and national grant-making trusts.
This new website has been developed by fit4funding and is supported by Voluntary Action Leeds.
It can be found at: www.fundsinleeds.org.uk
We realise that not all groups will have access to the internet and that many of you may like further support in finding out more about applying for small grants.
In the following pages, therefore, you will find information about a range of organisations that can provide you with extra help and assistance.
FIT4FUNDING (FORMALLY THE CHARITIES INFORMATION BUREAU)
fit4funding supports voluntary organisations and community groups in West Yorkshire to receive funding for their work; and supports funding advisors and agencies to give effective funding advice.
We do this through providing:
Training at venues throughout Leeds, on topics including:
- Writing funding applications;
- developing a funding strategy;
- writing a business plan;
- good practice in giving funding advice;
- good practice in grant giving;
- accessing and managing European funding;
- monitoring and evaluation.
Our courses are delivered throughout the year, at different times and at different levels to suit your needs - some are short, some are longer, some are tailor made, and many are accredited through West and North Yorkshire Open College Network. Let us know what you need!
Funding Information, including:
Regular e-mail updates and newsletters to keep you informed of funding sources; this (and also the fit4funding) Website, full of resources and information sheets to guide you on funding issues; "Funding Points" at venues in Leeds where you can find out more about funding sources and how to access them.
Consultancy:
In some cases, we offer additional one-to-one support. We work through funding clinics and consultancies to help groups plan their fundraising more effectively.
Who do we work with? We can support you if you are:
- A member of a voluntary or community group - however big or small.
- A development worker supporting and advising voluntary and community groups on funding issues.
- A member of a grants panel responsible for distributing funds

LEEDS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
Supported by Leeds City Council through the Infra-structure Support Fund
The Leeds Community Foundation is an independent grant-making organisation that raises funds from the private sector (primarily individuals and companies), as well as working alongside statutory funders with money to distribute. These funds are then made available, in the form of grants, to small-to-medium sized voluntary, community and faith sector groups in Leeds.
The Foundation also acts as a flow-through funder for national organisations wanting to give grants in Leeds. An example of this is the Sport Relief Fund that the Foundation manages in Leeds, on behalf of Comic Relief.
The Foundation is using the grant from the infra-structure support fund to work in partnership with fit4funding and Voluntary Action Leeds to provide an online funding database. This gives details of local funding and grant availability for VCFS organisations.
This can be found on this website.
The grant also enables the Foundation to work with other infra-structure groups to hold up to three Funding Fairs a year, in different parts of the city. The aim of these events is to encourage other grant-making organisations to take a stand and provide face-to-face advice to groups seeking funding. Further details of these events can be found at www.leedscommunityfoundation.org.uk/latest-news.
