Organisational Development

Setting up and running a community group or voluntary organisation requires many skills. Some of these you may have. Others you will need to develop.

However it has all been done before. There is a lot of expertise around. You can get help with this and get trained with the skills you will need.

You can get help with developing your organisation from your Local Infrastructure Organisation (LIO) (ie Community Action Voluntary Action, Council for Voluntary Service). To contact your local LIO go to the NAVCA website http://www.navca.org.uk/liodir/ to find their details. Some of these, as well as other agencies, offer training in organisational development.

The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) produce publications on all aspects of organisation and development for the Voluntary and Community Sector. A full list is available on their website.

Directory of Social Change and Charities Aid Foundation provide publications to help the Voluntary and Community Sector. These are available from the DSC bookshop. Website: http://www.dsc.org.uk/Publications
