fit4funding aims to enhance the funding advice skills of those currently working in funding advice or seeking to do so, and to promote good practice in this area.

Training outside of West Yorkshire
We can offer training for Funding Advisors which are described in our Training Prospectus.
Accredited courses:
Does you role at work involve giving funding advice to voluntary & community groups? Would you like to develop your skills and receive recognition for the work you do? Then an opportunity is available just for you! Accredited Funding Advisors Training A practical and informal 4 day accredited course leading to three credits at level 2 or 3 through the Open College Network.
This course is aimed at:
- Specialist funding advisors
- Community / umbrella agency workers whose remit includes giving funding advice
Usually with at least a year's experience of working with voluntary or community groups.
The course will cover:
- The role of the funding advisor
- Good practice in giving funding advice
- Diagnosing groups' needs
- Clarifying complex funding criteria
- Giving feedback on draft applications, and
- Voluntary sector funding trends
"I'm new to funding advice. The course has brought me up to a higher level" The costs: For organisations outside of West Yorkshire wishing to buy in the above training course, the cost is: £5400
This cost includes:
- Teaching time for two tutors;
- All preparation time for both tutors;
- Development and production of all course materials;
- Learner registration with the OCN;
- Learner certification and qualification including external moderation;
- Pre course counselling for all learners; and,
- Outside of course support.
This cost is for a group of up to 16 learners. If the number of learners is eight or less, only 1 tutor would be needed. The cost would be: £3600 The amount charged is 2/3rds of full costs rather than half, due to the additional admin time and costs associated with the accreditation. In addition to the costs outlined above, we charge for travel expenses, and travel time (costed at £25 per hour)
What would your organisation need to do:
Your organisation would need to publicise to learners, take bookings, liaise with fit4funding re requirements, and organise and provide a venue and refreshments.
We are more than happy for you to charge learners to attend the course. We have found that as well as helping to cover your costs, this increases commitment to attendance.
Notice: Because, in the majority of cases, two tutors are required to deliver this course, we need as much notice as possible to ensure we can commit to their availability.
Non Accredited Funding Advisors Course: Two Days
The two day version covers the same content but in less depth. Less is also required of the learners. As the course is not accredited, learners are not required to give a short presentation on a funding related issue, or to prepare a case study about a group they are working with. Feedback from learners indicates that many prefer to do the longer version of the course, to gain credit for their learning. The costs: For organisations outside of West Yorkshire wishing to buy in the above training course, the cost is: £1800 plus travel expenses and travel time.
This cost includes:
- Teaching time for two tutors;
- All preparation time for both tutors;
- Development and production of all course materials;
If the number of learners is eight or less, only 1 tutor would be needed. The cost would be: £1200 The amount charged is 2/3rds of full costs rather than half, due to the admin time needed. In addition to the costs outlined above, we charge for travel expenses, and travel time (costed at £20 per hour)

The cost of the courses: Short Courses For organisations outside of West Yorkshire wishing to buy in a short training course, the cost is: £225 for a half day course (3 teaching hours) £450 for a full day course (6 teaching hours) This cost is for a group of up to 16 learners.
This cost includes:
- Teaching time for a tutor;
- Development and production of all course materials;
- All preparation time for the tutor;
- Evaluating the course.
In addition to the costs outlined above, we charge for travel expenses, and travel time (costed at £25 per hour)

Accredited fundraising skills courses
Are you involved in a voluntary or community group? Do you help with raising funds for your group? Then fit4funding - The Charities Information Bureau has two exciting training opportunities available to you: Funding & Fundraising Skills If you are new to fundraising or would like to develop your skills knowledge and confidence, then the 4 day Fundraising Skills course could be just for you!
The course will help you to answer:
- Where can we find the funding?
- What and how much should we ask for?
- What makes a good application?
- Who should we involve in our fundraising?
- What do we need to think about when planning our fundraising?
- What do we do once we get the money?
The course will allow you to develop your own applications, and return to your organisation with a fundraising plan, so bring along any ideas of what you need to raise funds for!
The course is accredited through Open College Network. This means you can gain 3 credits for your work on the course. There are 2 different levels of achievement possible, and you can choose which you want to achieve.
Funding & Fundraising Skills 2
Once you have attended our Fundraising Skills training, or if you are already a skilled fundraiser, we invite you to develop your skills further through attending Fundraising Skills 2!

- Budgeting and devising budgets
- Developing a marketing strategy
- The current funding climate
