Funding for Education Projects

Funding for work that is considered to be part of mainstream education, including equipment is considered by many funding agencies to be the responsibility of Government and as such is not eligible for funding.

Schools may not be eligible for funding that their partner organisations, in many cases,
may be entitled to.
Parents Associations, Friends of the School, and those organising Out of School or Pre
school activities may be able to access funds.

Schools may well have funds available within their own budgets for extra curricular
activities involving their pupils.

Fundraising Options

Many schools will already arrange various fundraising events. These have the advantage of raising money without any pre-agreed commitments which will increase the flexibility as to how the funds collected can be spent.

Fundraising can be organised by school staff but also through the Governing Body or the Parents Association, some of which are dedicated to such activities.

There are many ways such funding can be raised in fun and meaningful ways involving:-

  • Parents Associations
  • Business Sponsorship. See Sources of Funding for more details of funding and support from local businesses.
  • School events (e.g.a non uniform day) For further help with raising funds yourself see 'Do it yourself fundraising'.
