Stage 1 - Training for new Funding Advisers

Stage 1  "Advising Groups on Funding Issues"

The course, aimed at funding advisers, community workers and other workers involved in supporting groups to access funding, is delivered through 3 methods.

  1. Four full day sessions
  2. E-learning
  3. Blended - 2 full day sessions and the remainder through e-learning.

The training can lead to a level 2 or 3 qualification developed by fit4funding and accredited (as 3 credits) by the Open College Network. A portfolio of work, drawing on work with groups, is required for each qualification and level 3 requires additional pieces of work to demonstrate the ability of applying the learning in practice. The course is run on a regular basis in West Yorkshire and is available to other areas through agreement. Please contact fit4funding to discuss this option.  The course covers:

  • The role of the funding adviser
  • Good practice in giving funding advice
  • Diagnosing groups needs
  • Clarifying complex funding criteria
  • Giving feedback on draft applications
  • Evaluating your advice service to demonstrate impact and
  • Voluntary sector funding trends

E-learning

This provides opportunities for individuals to undertake training with start dates throughout the year. The course requires a 4 hour commitment per week cover an 8 week period. There is ongoing support and feedback from a personal tutor during this time with opportunities to network, and discuss ideas online with fellow learners.
